EDGAR (Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval) is the SEC's system for receiving filings and publishing them. Electronic filing became mandatory for US public companies in the 1990s. Anyone can read EDGAR, free and without an account.

Acceptance time and filing date

EDGAR accepts filings from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time on business days. Each filing gets an acceptance time, to the second. Most filings submitted after 5:30 p.m. ET get the next business day as their filing date, though Forms 3, 4 and 5 submitted by 10:00 p.m. keep the same day. The acceptance time is the more precise record of when information became public.

On Listed

Every figure on Listed comes from EDGAR, and each page names the filing behind its figures. The forecast leagues lock forecasts at the EDGAR acceptance time of the first results filing. The data sources page lists the EDGAR services Listed uses and how far behind EDGAR each part of the site runs.
